Once upon a time, there were three little kittens: Berry, Pear, and Sunny.
Berry was red, like a strawberry. Pear was green, like a ripe pear. Sunny was orange, like the sun.
One day they went out into the yard and saw a big rainbow balloon. It bounced over the grass and shimmered with all the colors.
“Oh, how pretty!” said Berry.
“Let’s play with it!” said Pear.
“Hooray!” cheered Sunny.
The kittens ran after the balloon. Berry jumped, and the balloon floated up. Pear touched it with his paw, but the balloon bounced away. Sunny hopped after it, and the balloon floated even higher.
The kittens sat down on the grass and felt sad.
Then Berry said, “Let’s call it politely!”
Pear nodded. “Yes, with magic words!”
Sunny smiled. “Together!”
So the three kittens stood side by side, held paws, and said in loud but gentle voices:
“Please, rainbow balloon,
come down and play with us!”
The balloon stopped in the air, slowly floated down, and landed right in front of the kittens.
It shone even brighter and said in a tiny happy voice:
“Thank you for calling me so politely!
Thank you for saying ‘please’!
Now
I will be happy to play with you.”
The kittens were so happy!
Berry rolled the balloon with her paw and said, “Thank you, Balloon!”
Pear gently nudged it with his nose and said, “Please roll some more!”
Sunny jumped over the balloon and laughed, “Thank you for playing with us!”
They played and played until the sun turned red.
Then it was time to say goodbye. The balloon floated high into the sky, waved its string, and said:
“Thank you very much for your kind and polite words!
I will come back
whenever you call me.
Good night, my friends!”
The kittens waved their paws and happily ran home.
That evening, when Mama Cat tucked them into bed, they whispered:
“Today we learned:
If you want someone to play with you,
you should
say ‘please’ and speak kindly.
Then everyone will be happy!”
And the three kittens, Berry, Pear, and Sunny, fell asleep with smiles on their faces.
And outside the window, a tiny rainbow light glowed softly in the sky, as if it were saying, “Good night... and thank you.”
The End.
